New Collection of Political Cartoons – An Unflinching View of the World in a Book by Cartoonist Paul Jamiol

Dog Ear Publishing releases “Paul Jamiol’s World 2008-2010” by Paul Jamiol.

This new collection of more than 150 political cartoons released by Dog Ear Publishing features a nationally recognized cartoonist’s take on world events from 2008 to 2010.

With the power of his artist’s pen, cartoonist Paul Jamiol states his opinions on issues such as the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, terrorism, fear, hatred, torture, the fallen and human rights. Covering the Obama and Bush administrations, the artist comments on politicians on both sides of the aisle, as well as the media. This collection features over 150 cartoons, out of 450 that Jamiol inked in that period.  Airport security scanners, lack of support for gays in the military, offshore drilling and disregard for veterans all come under fire.  His images convey the issues clearly, sometimes with wit, sometimes with poignancy, but always with power.

The cartoons in “Paul Jamiol’s World 2008-2010” show the power political cartoonists wield with their ability to convey complex ideas with a simple drawing and a few lines of text. As friend Ed Youngblood writes in the foreword, Jamiol’s images “can quickly flip the world right-side-up again after the politicians and pundits have done their best to turn it upside-down. Jamiol’s work also reminds us that the magic of the cartoonist is his ability to make us laugh when there seems to be nothing to laugh about. Jamiol’s pen is a sharp sword that usually cuts in the shape of a smile.”

Author Paul Jamiol has been drawing cartoons for 40 years and has been recognized locally, nationally and internationally.  His current work can be seen on his website, Jamiol’s World, as well as TheZoo and Boiling Frogs Post blogs.  Jamiol first entered the world of political cartoons by drawing for one local newspaper, and soon was working for five separate newspapers, covering a different issue for each. He has written and illustrated three children’s books through Dog Ear Publishing.

Biker Animals Hit the Highway for a Riding Adventure in Cartoonist’s Latest Release – Book by Paul Jamiol

When the weekend rolls around, it’s time to hop on a motorcycle and have an adventure. That’s the plan as Trash the bear and Akorn the squirrel meet up with their biker animal friends. They’ll be going on a ride to the mountains for an overnight stay at their friend’s cabin, in this new release. The group plans the trip for weeks, splitting up into small groups to handle every aspect of the trip from shopping for food to leading the ride. Right before heading out on their motorcycles, they discuss one more important topic: riding safely.

Bikers Are Animals 3 – On the Road provides a colorful, easy-to-read story that includes gentle reminders of respect and working together while having fun. The author’s fun-loving critters check over the motorcycles before riding them and watch out for each other once on the road. At the cabin, they play, relax and get together at a campfire to share stories, sing and enjoy their friendship. On the safety page at the end of the book, the critters spell out biker safety rules for children and adults. Children are reminded that real kids should always wear a helmet and listen to their adults.

This is the third in a series of children’s books by author/cartoonist Paul Jamiol that focuses on biker animals who enjoy being with their friends and doing the thing that bonds them…riding motorcycles. Jamiol, an avid motorcyclist, has been recognized locally, nationally and internationally for his artwork. His illustrations and cartoons have appeared in newspapers, magazines and on the Internet. Linda Habib edited the book and contributed creatively. To learn more, visit www.bikersareanimals.com.

New Children’s Book Revs Up Motorcycle Riding, Friendship, Respect and Safety – Book by Paul Jamiol

Motorcycles have long been the definition of “cool.” Animals who ride motorcycles are no exception. This second book in a series of books on motorcycle-riding animals expands on the author’s first book, which introduced cartoon animals on cool motorcycles to show children and adults that riding a motorcycle is fun, and that those involved in the sport are intelligent and caring. New characters, new motorcycles and new stories bring the author’s message into focus.

Bikers Are Animals 2 – The Rest of the Crew published by Dog Ear Publishing, introduces 12 new characters including Sketch, a grey wolf who brings a pad and pencil with him when riding; Leenah, a raccoon who often will go wherever her motorcycle takes her; GT Charlie, a muskrat who tunes not only his guitar before playing but also his motorcycle before riding; and Classik, a coyote whose favorite things are old motorcycles and talking with older critters about their riding days. Colorful cartoons of each character bring them vividly to life. In addition to reading about these motorcycle lovers, there is section at the end of the book where children can copy and color line drawings of some of the characters. A summary of motorcycle safety rules and tips given by the characters provides further instruction for children and adults.

Author Paul Jamiol, an avid motorcyclist, has been cartooning and illustrating for over 40 years. His work, published in magazines, newspapers and on the internet, has been recognized locally, nationally and internationally. This unique book, edited by Linda Habib, is the second in a series of children’s books featuring animals who love to ride motorcycles. To learn more, visit www.bikersareanimals.com.
