Dog Ear Publishing releases “Love Thoughts: Learning to Love, While Trying to Live” by Sylvester Hubbard III.
The author addresses his views on love and relationships through passionate words in this new collection of poetic essays released by Dog Ear Publishing.
Men have a lot to learn from women when it comes to love, asserts Sylvester Hubbard III, and he’s written a new collection of poetic essays as a way to apologize on behalf of men who have failed to give women the love and romance they deserve. The author admits he wasn’t taught how to love or to respect women, so his marriage failed, he acted like an adolescent well into adulthood and was never a loving man. His writing aims to inspire others to be better people through love.
“Love Thoughts: Learning to Love, While Trying to Live” reveals the writer’s still incomplete journey through relationships, detailing his newfound humility in the face the depth of women’s capacity to fight for love and romance. The book features sections with different aspects of relationships, such as depression and loneliness, appreciating what today brings, never forcing a man to answer to his past, the darker side of love, the importance of not giving up, and love’s capacity to heal.
The author’s pain of past relationships is clear, such as the selection “Empty,” which addresses emotion deeper than being alone. “It is not loneliness that disturbs me, I can live with that,” he writes. “I can change those feelings. It’s this emptiness that frightens me.” What’s equally clear is the writer’s hope for the future and inspiring change, such as the essay titled, “Patience,” which reveals possibilities and second chances. “I will give you patience and will touch your heart gently when I hand it,” he writes. “Protect it from the constant strains of life and listen to the fast beats that I will cause when I give of my true self.”
In the end, this poet simply wants his writing “to ignite our passions and press upon our greater selves to become a move loving person. To shape our desires to be understanding and considerate in our relationships. But, most importantly, to help us to recover from our broken hearts so that we may once again love unconditionally.”
Author Sylvester Hubbard III grew up in the small town of Lincoln, Del. He now lives in Charlotte, N.C. This is the second book of poetry for Sylvester, who also wrote “Thoughts From Within.” To contact Sylvester Hubbard III about a poetry reading, book signing or speaking engagement, e-mail sjaclan5@yahoo.com and include the book title in the subject line.
